Arrow help with 80's cartoon title

I wonder if anyone can help me. I used to watch this film as a kid, it was randomly on the end of one of my vhs's that had carried on recording or something but i loved it!!

Its a really obscure cartoon possibley from the 80's, maybe earlier.

it strted with a little boy with white/blonde hair on a planet, he could communicate with some adults on another planet through a red and white egg shaped object, he had a name for this object and thought that 'it' was the one that was talking to him.
the adults were guiding him to safety - what fruit he could eat etc.
the young boy meets some kind of dinosaur creature, it has four legs for walking but two arms up top and dinosaur-ish head, he rides on its back.
Eventually this creature gets entangled in some sort of sticky vines and dies.

On this other planet , teh adults taht have been talking to the boy consisit of an old man with grey fuzzy hair and beard wearing a baseball cap, i think its his home. There is a younger man and a woman with him. In the old mans garden, strange pods errupt and little like jelly baby aliens spring out and can fly but i think they're dangerous? they ahve childrens voices.
The only bit i remember after that is that the old man dies at some point and at the end the younger man is on yet anotehr planet (maybe searching for the boy?) He is in some kind of mountain/volcanoe maybe and there are flying men, demons? they are in pain for some reason.

i doubt if anyone has seen it but Thank you in advance!!

Any way to snap a pic of the little boy with a digital. It may help but I'm sure I've never seen that show the way you described it.

No ive searched everywhere, it wasn't a show it was a full length animated movie.

He was meant to be about 10, had white blonde basin cut hair, wearing blue jeans.
