90's Crime movie,can't remember title.
I remember being younger and seeing my folks watching a crime movie. I never knew ANYTHING about the movie except the ending, the ending was burned into my mind.
The way the movie ended was a camera shot where the camera was up at the ceiling looking down on a man who was stabbed lying on a table. The man starts laughing while he's dying and the camera slowly lowers down until it reveals there's money hidden inside of the table he's dying on and the film ends there.
I believe it was a crime movie given the nature of what I remember but i'm absolutely positive it's from the 90's. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!

The name of that movie is Shallow Grave and Ewen Mcgregor is the one you remember from the end who was stabbed. The movie is about four friends who rent a flat together and put out an ad for another roommate. One guy moves in with them and dies like the next day. They find out that he's dead and they find a suitcase full of money in his room so they decide to get rid of the body and hide the money. Some mob guys come lookin for the money...I wont reveal any more than that except to say that it falls into the category of a horror movie and it is very creepy especially in the parts that show them gettin rid of the body. I highly recommend it. I will clarify one thing though, and this is a SPOILER so if you haven't seen it then don't read this part...The movie becomes all about the roommates double crossing one another in the end and what happens to Ewen Mcgregor's character is one guy tries to leave with the money but gets killed by Ewen, and the only other roommate left is the girl who is there during the whole thing. After the one guy is killed, Ewen is left on the floor with a knife in his shoulder which is stuck to the floor behind him. The girl in the movie, instead of helping him takes a book or somethin and bangs on the knife to secure him to the floor and then takes the suitcase full of money and leaves him there. What she doesn't know is that he swapped the money earlier and hid it in the floor. What I wanted to clarify is the fact that he didn't die, in the end he won and she ended up with nothing.

I agree Claire, I liked how the one guy with the glasses started out so innocent and disgusted by the whole process of disposing of the body but by the end of the movie he became one of the most dangerous characters. It really is a creepy movie and shows the strain finding the money puts upon their friendship and how it changes them all.

You all convinced me to mark it down as a future movie to watch. Sounds good.
I don't care that I know the ending either.

You'll still enjoy it even though you know how it ends. Calling it a crime movie really is too mild, it's more of a horror/psychological drama. The change that the characters go through in the film is the most disturbing part of the movie.

It definitely shows how a large amount of money can change people.

You ever see the movie 'A Simple Plan' Claire? That definitely is based on what you just spoke of. Mm-hmm.

Yeah, a simple plan was pretty good. But I have to say that it was alot more depressing than this movie. Shallow Grave is alot more simple than a simple plan which makes a strong commentary on the moral strenths/weaknesses of the main characters, mainly Bill Paxton's character and Bridgette Fonda's Character. Both are good movies, just know that Shallow Grave is gripping and scary while A Simple Plan is disturbing and depressing.

Ok, I enjoy both styles of film anyways so that shouldn't be a problem for me.
