Default HELP ITS DRIVING ME NUTS

The only thing i remember about this movie is this guy is camping by himself and someone walks up on him and they fight. He gets a knife stuck through his cheek. I want to say it was Kevin Costner but I'm not sure. If I remember right it was set back in the late 1800's or very early 1900's.

The first movie that popped into my head was "Ravenous", but that's probably wrong.

That's the first film that popped into my head as well. Maybe because of the time it was supposed to have taken place cause I don't remember a scene like that unless it's embedded in my conscious and I don't even know it.
