sci fi help needed!

hey guys! i hope this is the right place for this post - i'll go for it anyway.

i'm writing a media essy and i'm in need of a film made (atleast) pre 80's about the future - the future being our present (2007 or somewhere close), ideally set on earth. if there is one where humans are still the most important species but there's loads of aliens/robots the better.

I need it as a comparison point to our current society and a film made after 2004 about the future as we see it now. The second film will be easier to find but if there are any suggestions for that one it would be great!

any help you can give me will be massively appreciated!

You came to the right place, sci fi is definately my favorite genre so I think I can make a few suggestions. pre 80s--Soylent Green, Logans Run, Blade Runner, THX 1138, (Geeze this is alot harder when I limit it to just movies about the future-alot of sci fi isn't always about the future). Here's some post 80s films--Minority Report, Equilibrium (Great Movie), Obviously the Matrix although I like Equilibrium more than the matrix, Serenity, Titan A.E., Aeon Flux..that's all I can think of off the top of my head. I hope that helps.
