A giant iPod like in Scary Movie 4.

Well he did get revived in the old movie...maybe some outside force will take his body and "galvanize" it (pun intended ) Or, maybe he's not really dead, but only in stasis..hence the plot asked for him not to be torn apart before being dumped into the ocean.

Maybe Soundwave could transform into a giant satellite dish or something. And maybe some people will try to locate Megatron to turn him into their own weapon, thought that's unlikely since they dropped him into that trench to avoid just such a thing. I was a huge Transformers fan as a kid, but even I don't think they really need Megatron. The movie blew away anything ever dreamed of in the comics or cartoons. Let them make their own stories.

I've been hearing cryptic 'rumours' from people on the net and around comic and collectible stores (which I have yet to substantiate) about the next film. It could all be fan conjecture, but its interesting nonetheless.
Apparently Starscream will be in charge with a newly arrived Soundwave questioning his every move, which is pretty much a sure thing, but here it gets interesting:
the allspark that was thought to have killed Megatron actually regenerates him as a much more powerful being and he assumes the even more twisted garb of Galvatron as he becomes drunk with the allspark's power.
Details are few, but Galvatron grapples back control of the Decepticons from Starscream and through abusing all his power, he becomes Megatron again by the film's end. There is even talk of him slaying Starscream (like the animated film).

Very interesting, like I said, but also very speculative. Whats everyone else think of this angle?

Regarding Soundwave, I think Soundwave should be a spyplane then he could eject all these little drones that transform into Ravage, Laserbeak or Rumble.
Now that I hear Blackout was at one point to be named Soundwave I'm glad they didn't.
Don't get me wrong, I think Blackout is a great character and those first opening scenes at the Qatar base are the best in the movie, but it would have doubled the frustration I already had that the tank, who was clearly Brawl (as Hasbro confirmed in a press release and the toys) was 'Devastator'.
I hope they fix that minor oversight in the DVD release.
Also, I know they have to waste characters to make room for new ones as having 20 or 30 Autobots and Decepticons is out of anyone's budget, but it felt to me that they just dropped like flies in the first film - mainly the Decepticons.

Thanks for the rumors Kindzone a lot of that sounds pretty feasible to me. Me, I'll be happy if they just leave the damn Dinobot's out of the second movie. I never cared for them on the cartoon.

Wow those are pretty interesting rumors. But if Megatron becomes Galvatron now there would be an even lower probability of Unicron making an appearance : (

Haha...just like the old movie!

I was also WTFing at Devastator. I thought "hey isn't Devastator a giant construction robot" but I forgot about it quickly because I was too busy being blown away.

Somehow I don't think Mr Bay would want Unicron. He has a pet idea for an aircraft carrier, probably autobot 'Broadside', but aside from that he said himself he isn't interested in taking on board fan feedback and never liked liaising with fans of TF - because 'its HIS movie'.
The first was fun and had great TF moments, but 85% of the film was like a bad romantic comedy/sci-fi mixer.
Anyway, that aside, I now know that Bay wanted the name Devastator to stick, defying Hasbro, who already designed the toy and other merchandise with Brawl's name on it.

Like I said these rumours may all be fan conjecture, but there's a solid premise there and its the best scenario I've read for a part 2 so far.
Other speculations include Unicron, but not as a planet eater, I mean after they so radically changed the TF plot lines anyway, why stick to the planet idea?
I had high hopes for these films, I think everyone did, and its sort of split the fanbase. At least we got, in my opinion, an average film and not a complete disaster. I guess all we can do now is wait.

God I'm getting old, now I'm part of a loyal fan base of which my primary membership fee was sitting down in spider man underoo's and watching Transformers on saturday morning. Now all grown up I come here and discuss the sanctity of franchise and whether or not it was right that they changed Megatron from a itty bitty little pistol to a jet plane! I love my life!

Anyway I say bring it on! I hope they make about 50 of these things! Especially if Megan is going to be in them, I don't remember seeing girls like her when I was sitting there in my underoo's.

Paramount Sets Transformers 2 Release Date
Source: Box Office Mojo
September 24, 2007

Despite a recent comment from Transformers director Michael Bay that the studio hasn't been going full speed ahead on a sequel because of the possible strike next year, Paramount Pictures has now set a June 26, 2009 release date for Transformers 2. It is unclear who all will return for the sequel, as far as crew and cast members. Hopefully we'll know more soon.
