I love a good documentary, and this one looks to be right up there--the trailer pops, almost feels like it's scripted: American Teen

Pulls you in because you see yourself and the people you knew and the people you envied and the people you hated...crazy that high school subject matter always has that power (I'm thinking of Breakfast Club, Dazed and Confused, the early years of Buffy The Vampire Slayer...)

I loved Go Tigers and Hoop Dreams...are there other high school docs I'm forgetting?

I was looking into other docs, and found this on Imdb--such a pivotal year in American teen culture, I'm surprised I'd never heard of this documentary. I'd love to see them both and compare and contrast, how different, how similar, the high school experience is over the years.

I played around more online in anticipation of American Teen, and they've done a great job with their facebook page--not just nuts and bolts, but some really good info, some contests, lots of detail on the killer soundtrack and the bands on there, a fun application where you find out which clique you fit into in high school--I think they did a hell of a job:

I've seen plenty of facebook fan pages that don't take advantage of the format, they really have.

And, in case you were wondering, I was a geek in high school. Shocker.
