Default Mongol - historical tale of Ghangis Khan

Here's one for y'all: MONGOL (opens June 6, limited theatres)
is a new movie by award-winning Russian filmmaker Sergei Bodrov about the life and legend of Genghis Khan. Mongol delves into the dramatic and harrowing early years of the ruler who was born as Temudgin in 1162. As it follows Temudgin from his perilous childhood to the battle that sealed his destiny, the film paints a multidimensional portrait of the future conqueror, revealing him not as the evil brute of hoary stereotype, but as an inspiring, fearless and visionary leader.

I'm a sucker for historical movies, so I'm thinking of going to see it.

i wanna see this too. i hope it wont be the artsy fartsy crap. Its a historical epic and should focus on the brutality of warfare and conquerors.

Genghis khan is one of the all time greatest military leaders yes.

Similar to the mongols were the huns who migrated to the west from central asia between 1st and 3rd centruy AD. The huns then began making raids into the western roman empire which was declining.

The peak of their strength came under atilla who united the various hunnic tribes including their conquered subjects, goths, vandals etc.

The final major clash between the huns and the romans was in 453AD when aetius led a coalition of romans, goths and vandals against atilla in chalons. France.

Atilla was beaten and retreated to his home in hungary. He made plans to launch another campaign against the romans but died before he could. After that, the huns were unable to unite and no longer posed a threat to anyone.

Gerard butler starred in a tv movie of attila the hun in 2001. That was the first i heard of butler and i enjoyed the movie. Cheap costumes and low budget but the directing and music was awesome.
