Default More Riddick?

12:00 AM, 21-NOVEMBER-07

Twohy: More Riddick Possible

David Twohy, the director of The Chronicles of Riddick, posted on his official Web site that another movie featuring Vin Diesel's iconic character is still possible.

"We're talking about it," Twohy posted. "The DVD numbers were really good. We know that, and some potential financiers know that. But if another movie surfaces, it probably won't be a Universal movie and probably will be an independent movie. Which means we'll have to make it for substantially less than the last installment. But that's OK. Pitch Black was $22 million all in. Maybe it's time to go back to our roots as we go on to The UnderVerse."

This would be sweet, I really would like to see what happens next after the way the second movie ended.

Pitch Black and Riddick were great so I'm also looking forward to this one.

I loved Pitch Black and hated Riddick. I believe it had to do with him barely saying anything. The only good part of that film was the last scene of irony.

I'm still up for a new one though. I enjoy Vin Diesel films for the most part.

I would say that Pitch Black and Riddick was totally different movies. And for me, I can't understand when people say "oh Pitch Black was so much better!" They are totally different and you get entertained on different levels. Sure you can like one better then the other but still, for me both of them gave me something good. And Vin Diesel is always such bad-ass

Yeah I totally agree with you Max, Pitch Black was an excellent Monster/Horror movie and it just happened to have Vin Diesel in it. Originally The Chronicles of Riddick was supposed to be a trilogy by itself but over all the film wasn't very good and didn't make enough money so you know how that goes. I did however enjoy it enough that I certainly wouldn't mind seeing another one.

Does this mean they crammed the rest of the story into the previous movie already?

It does kind of seem that way doesn't it? Probably why the movie could have been better imo. Anywho it's still David Twohy who wants to make another one so maybe it will work out.

I really liked "Pitch Black". Having Diesel be the supposed bad guy for most of the film, only to have Cole Hauser end up being the true villain was slick. I thought the lower budget worked in it's favor too. A simple trick like using a blue filter because of the blue sun in that system worked and gave it a unique look. "The Chronicles of Riddick" though just came off as a director biting off more than he could chew. The whole prophecy and superpowers angle killed the story. Riddick was a lot more interesting when he was just a badass. Plus, for the whole movie I was looking forward to a big fight scene between Diesel and Karl Urban, and it never happened!
