Default Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles

I hope someone likes this show because I watched the first episode of this new series last night and I have to say I was both subtley impressed and very dissapointed.
Impressed as far as the effects and action went, but dissapointed in the plot. Everything was fine until they chronoported (time travelled) to 2007.
Everything after Sarah's decision not to go for the border anymore makes no sense in the Terminator timeline or in the general workings of the episode.
The whole vault time machine and future weaponry schtick is so quickly glossed over and in a timeline where nothing should be left to chance, they go off into 2007 leaving the 'corpse' of the Terminator and the time travel equipment behind in 1999 for all to see and plunder.
To me it seems a quick fix to get them to 2007 so they can film the show easier than if they had to base it in 1999 and nothing more.
Sarah herself is dull and very subdued, John is very simplified and the evil Terminator in this episode was badly 'acted'.
The fights were also merely clones of the fights from the films.

I was kind of underwhelmed by this pilot and hope the next episode or two reels me back in.

i was sceptical about this anyway. When u see a poster with the actors screaming "look at me, im carrying a gun and im so cool" u know the series is in trouble.

Going off topic slightly here but one thing that does friggin annoy me in a lot of series nowadays is when the characters all make sarcastic comments and always seem pissed off with each other. Its as if the writers think this gives the charcters more depth and a strong storyline. Well for me its frustrating and unnecessary.

Good point.

I was thrown by the first episode, but every episode has been better than the last since then for what it is - a series.
It must be said, though, that there are one to two story arcs in each episode that never seem to go anywhere or get resolved. Perhaps thats the writers trying to sell John and Sarah's incomplete life, I don't know.

Still, in any case, it has gotten better and in fact I've come to enjoy it to the point that I was angry when I saw that it would be taken off for two weeks to show Cricket matches instead.
So, yes, it has redeemed itself somewhat in my opinion.

From what I have deducted from the actual show and not just speculation from the net, is that it takes place after T2, in 1999 in fact, before they get chronoported to 2007.
They seem to have drawn some points from T3, like Sarah's cancer, but overall seem to ignore the events of T3 as the deadline for Judgement Day in T3, July 24 2004, has well and truly passed by this point in the series' timeline.

By the by: A media release, covering the backstory, about the series stated that Sarah's action in T2 delayed Judgement Day until 2011.
Now, this also points to them ignoring the events of T3.
