Knight Rider Star Cast
All My Children hunk Justin Bruening is set as the lead in NBC's two-hour backdoor pilot Knight Rider, a Transformers-inspired sequel to the 1980s series, which is slated to air as a movie later in the season, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Bruening will play the son of Michael Knight, the character played by David Hasselhoff in the original series. And like father, like son, the choice of Bruening closely resembles Hasselhoff's casting a quarter-century ago.
Like Bruening, Hasselhoff was a soap star (The Young & the Restless) with few other credits when he landed Knight Rider. He was almost the same age as Bruening, who is 28.
Steve Shill is set to direct and co-executive-produce Rider, which was penned by Dave Andron. Doug Liman and Dave Bartis are executive-producing for Universal Media Studios and Dutch Oven Productions. Andron serves as supervising producer. (NBC and Universal Media Studios are both owned by NBC Universal, which also owns SCIFI.COM.)

It's not bad to have a new Knight Rider.
I think this TV Show will be fun to watch.

Poitier Gets Knight Role
Actress Sydney Poitier (Grindhouse) has landed a role on NBC's two-hour movie Knight Rider, which will serve as a pilot for a possible remake of the TV series about a man and his talking car, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The Transformers-inspired sequel centers on Mike Tracer (Justin Bruening), the son of Michael Knight, the character played by David Hasselhoff in the original show. Poitier will play a feisty FBI agent who dislikes Mike.
Poitier, youngest daughter of actor Sidney Poitier, starred in Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof portion of the Grindhouse double feature, as well as in the CW series Veronica Mars.

I just read this on Iwatchstuff!.com, it made me laugh:
When I heard the Knight Rider series was being planned for an updated remake, my first worry was if they would alter the natural perfection that spawns from David Hasselhoff driving an sarcastic talking car. Of course, they are.
First came news that Hasselhoff would not be in the driver's seat, which seems equivalent to rewriting the bible without Jesus, but now comes more tragic news: KITT may no longer be a Pontiac Trans Am. According to someone working on the Knight Rider effects team (adding a red light to the front of a car), the new vehicle will be a Ford Mustang.
The only positive I can see in this is if KITT will now be voiced by Toby Keith. At least then this could be watchable in the same self-affirming way that Walker: Texas Ranger is, where you feel good that you aren't someone who actually likes it.
Seeing as how they don't even make the Pontiac Trans Am anymore, I can understand them picking something different. You'd think Pontiac would have some kind of concept car they'd offer up to the show though. Being a Mustang fan though, I won't complain.
