I love politics ... and the elections for me are the same as the grand final in <enter favourite sport> ... I'll watch the election coverage from beginning to end. The last one we had was the end of last year ... had a tv set up in a quiet spot in the pub ... by the end of the night no-one was left in the main bar ... all were gathered with me ... cheering, drinking and whooping it up

In Australia it is compulsary to vote on the state and federal level ... but on the local councils it is voluntary. I vote for all

I watch the juvinile banter and bullyings when question time is broadcast on free to air tv.

Yes it is frustrating, Yes it is a waste of money during the campaigns. But love it or hate it, these guys and gals are governing our respective countries. If you don't like the way things are being run or the direction your country is moving ... then the only way is to vote for a change, even if it is for the lesser of two evils. I honestly think that for those who choose not to vote, should shutup and not complain when things go wrong.

People power actually does make a difference, a politician doesn't see a mass of individuals gathered together supporting an issue ... they see potential votes.

There are good politicians out there too, my local member takes time to listen to the people ... he regularly mails out information to his electorate which lists the cheapest doctors, dentists ... the last was a list of various internet services and their comparative costs. He is very approachable and makes time with you when you have queries.

It is a pity that most of the news concentrates on the negative antics and bungles rather than the positive.

I also like the drama that some of our political figures get up to ... the latest news that has broken the air waves comes from Western Australia where the leader of the oppersition has admitted to a rather strange fetish ... apparently not only is he into sneaking behind political staffers and snapping their bra straps, but he also enjoys grubbing around on the floor and sniffing the recently vacated seats of his women collegues

That sort of drama is better than the movies don't you think
Ah, I see your points, yes they do lead our respective countries but its the frustration that garners the negativity. Frustration with policies, juvenile antics, squandered opportunities and misuse of funds.
Yes, well, 'chair sniffing'. I couldn't beleive the huge media circus around that. I was watching the news and then they went live to parliament house for it - WTF? Everyone in the room watching the news just looked at each other in disbeleif - for this we cut live to the scene?

I personally disagree with spending millions of dollars on space travel when there's poor people in this country who have to decide whether to take much needed medication or eat a meal.

It sucks big time and I hate poiliticans. They are blood sucking leeches who have only their own best interests at heart.
U.S is one the countries yes. But also china, russia and most of the other rich nations.

As you mentioned about millions of people with no health insurance and cant afford to see doctors. Its shameful that governments would rather spend their money on preserving some endangered animal and silly things like that than caring about the lives of human beings.

I may be ruining other peoples enjoyment and sound like a stuck up old man but i really have to vent out my anger here. Lets take the 2008 olympics for example. China is now boasting about they are hosting it, how great and powerful they are now, how this makes them look great blah blah blah......

But to me im thinking "yeah but you still have thousands of sex slaves in your own country and you're doing absolutely nothing about it". To the government, the olympics is far more important. Its disgusting.

Its fancy packaging. Great on the outside, rotten on the inside.

Agreed and look at the complete mockery that is occuring with the torch relay ... first time in my memory that the flame has been extinguished not only once but thrice in Paris.

I'm hoping that the athletes will go (after all they have trained all their lives for this competition) however I hope they do something similar to those 2 black runners (?) who donned black gloves and black panther saluted.

To think that things looked so positive when a lone student stepped in front of a tank

Personally I don't care that much about it, cos, it something I really don't need to take a stand, uhm, like everyday. But from time to time there are issues that need some extra thoughts. Uhm, can't think about any now but.. Yea, WAR for instance. I'm an pacifist, so I really don't like when countries settle disputes with bombs and such. Maybe I'm naive, but, why can't we all get along? Alot of the conflicts in the world today become bigger than they really should, b'cos of two things: religion and money. There's too much greed in the world today, and I don't see it getting any better in the nearest future.. Yea.

Politics, do we care? dunno.

I don't care about politics much either...I do vote though when their is an election...I just find out what the party platform is and take it from there..I don't watch the news or any of the political compaigns..(spelling?).....I think war is pointless. So many people loose their lives for what? Most of the times wars don't settle things anyway and are a waste of lives, time, money and other resources.......
