Oh, yeh, theres great news - a new Rambo, much like Rocky Balboa, titled with the character's name. Not too thrilled about this, why do studios/actors feel they need to revisit old material? Is it some twisted 'fountain of youth' principal?
Oh, well, Arnie did T3, Willis did DH4, Ford is doing Indy 4 - lets have 'Harry Callahan' next.

Actually I have to dissagree with you on that one. I mean, the new Rambo movie may be just that, a reincarnation of a movie that's already dead for money's sake, but I don't feel that's the case with Rocky Balboa. I thought the same thing until I recently watched Rocky Balboa but now I know that it is a very satisfying conclusin to the Rocky saga which in my opinion is one of the best sagas ever.

I think there may be a lot of folks that would say Hollywood ran out of ideas about 15 or 20 years ago.

I wouldn't go quite that far back. The 80s and 90s have produced some pretty good movies but over time it has gotten pretty scarce as far as originaity. In the 2000s there haven't been that many good movies though.

I know I was just kinda making a broad generalization, There have been a good number of films over the years that I have enjoyed.

add the fact that there are lots of asian horror remakes done in hollywood nowadays - the ring, the grudge, dark water, the eye, shutter, a tale of two sisters, the echo... and the list keeps getting longer and longer.

That's all true, but I'd take a guess that there are a lot more movies made each year now than there were even thirty years ago. I could be wrong though.

It reminds me of this quote I read a few years ago. I really wish I could remember it all and who said it. It was something like "All stories can be broken down to two plotlines: Either a man is looking for something or a man is going somewhere". I'm pretty sure that's not the exact quote, but I can't find it anywhere.
