Default femenism and decline of female directors in Hollywood

Hello,

My name is Rachel and as part of my A Level media studies course I have to do a large research topic and as a subject I’ve decided to base mine on the fall female directors and the effects of the feminist movement.
I have put together a questionnaire with some fairly detailed questions, if you have any time to spare please take a look and complete it. Feel free to disagree with what I have stated and share your own opinions as it would help me learn more about this complex issue, thank you.

1a) Do you feel that there is equality in directorship roles in Hollywood?

1b) why do you think this?

2) What do you think there is a fall of interest for female directors to break Hollywood?

3) Do you think that the feminist movement has played a major role in introducing female directors?

4) What actions do you think need to be done to reach a better level of equality in Hollywood?

5)Do you think that there are any female directors spearheading a change in the male dominated environment?

6) Name 2 of your favourite female directed films (incl. film title)

7) Do you think that women are expected to direct certain genres of film i.e. romantic comedies?

8) As the numbers of successful high-profile female directors in Hollywood seem as the minority, why do you think they thrive in art house/ independent theatre?

Thank you for taking time out to read and hopefully share your views on this issue,

Rachel.
