Movie that deserve a decent re-release.
I look around the video stores and I see 'fully restored collector's edition' DVDs of obscure cult films that I've never heard of or more than often tragically bad films.
So, I wonder many times why movies more deserving do not get collector's editions, restored prints and the whole royal treatment.
They finally re-released 'Commando' in such a way, plus it is uncut, as well as 'The Thing', 'Transformers: The Animated Movie' and 'Nosferatu'. Still, how about Dolph Lundgren's popular 'Punisher'? How about a fully cleaned up restored 'Terminator' anniversary DVD and whats the hold up with the digitally remastered and restored DVD of the original 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'?
So, which films are you longing to see re-released in an extravagant DVD reissue? Or perhaps list films that still don't have a DVD release at all.

Two excellent Charles Bronson movies come to mind - Red Sun, and Death Hunt.
A Jet Li remake of Bruce Lees' Enter The Dragon would be good!
They should remake the last 3 released Star Wars movies, and kill Jar Jar Binks outright! LOL! Seriously though.
Believe it or not they could remake The Cannonball Run and it would assuredly be better than the first one.

The thing is, I find that many region 2 DVDs have special editions where as region 1 doesn't and perhaps vice versa. The best thing, if you shop online, is to get yourself a regional free DVD player and just buy those special editions online. There is a special edition 'Terminator' DVD out there already.
It's features include: “The Terminator: A Retrospective” Documentary; “Other Voices” Documentary; “Terminated Scenes” With James Cameron Audio Commentary; Original Treatment; Stills Galleries; Theatrical Trailers and TV Spots; Hidden Menu Features; DVD-ROM Materials; Collectible Booklet.

At least he shut him up in episode 2. :p
I'd love to see a 'Snake Eyes' special edition.
And one film I'm amazed as hell at, that still doesn't have a juicy special edition out there for region 1 that I'd love to see get one is 'True Lies'. This film is loved by alot of people so what the hell is the problem? Why do they make one for region 2 but not for region 1?
Fries my ass!

I really liked Looking For Mr. Goodbar - with Diane Keaton. It's based on a true story of a promiscuous teacher who was killed. But, it's not even out on DVD. Don't know why---Great movie.

I should probably clarify that what I meant on this thread was films you wish they'd release or re-release on DVD that haven't already or have gotten a crappy release and deserve something better. Not remakes of films, etc.
In regards to "...There is a special edition 'Terminator' DVD out there already...", yes I bought the reflective foil cover that came out years ago with all those features. The Ultimate/Definitive edition that came out recently is the exact same DVD set in new packaging.
I was referring to a restored picture quality, as they did when they re-released the 007 films. A full restoration, removing spots, gate hairs, tears and blemishes from the film. As yet, we have yet to see a decent restored transfer of 'Terminator'. Thats what I was talking about.
"Looking For Mr. Goodbar" rings a bell Claire, I saw a bit of that a while ago on TV I think.

Really. I assumed it was an automatic restoration there once they went to DVD with that in the special edition. I haven't watched it in awhile so will have a better look at the picture quality next time I do. It's very odd that they don't though like you said.

Before re-releasing movies that already have two or three versions out there, we still need to get classics like The Sea of Grass, The African Queen, Wuthering Heights, Tomorrow is Forever, etc., a DVD release in the first place. There are 200+ films in the TCM library that have yet to be released on DVD at all.
If you ask me, getting the classics on DVD is more important than re-releasing easily accessible films almost everybody's already seen hundreds of times and more than likely already owns in AT LEAST one version, if not multiple.
