Default Spider-man fans: What Does The Future Hold?

Well known, globally loved and 'youngest' of the superhero big three - Batman, Superman & Spider-man.
So where does he go from here? What's he getting up to and whats he got planned? Well, post any teaser or rumours you've heard here regarding films, comics or TV:

'Spider-man 4':
What I've read is that the villains appearing seem pretty constant, Lizard and Carnage, but the actors, writer and director are more ambiguous.
Sony and Marvel (Avi and Stan) have told us Dylan Baker (Dr. Connors) is returning in the next film so its a fair guess the Lizard will appear.
Carnage is less of a certainty, but makes sense in the plotting.
A few actors, including Casey Affleck, have been named for the Peter Parker role, but Tobey is still keen if Kirsten and Sam are, provided it doesn't conflict with his schedule for 'ROBOTECH'.
Venom is also set for a spin off film and many ponder wether Carnage will appear in that film for his bloody & brutal introduction than 'Spider-man 4'.
Topher Grace has already turned down the role of eddie Brock in the spin off.

I think Tobey's getting to be a little old for the role. Spider-Man is a character that has to be in his early 20's. Whoever they pick to take over, I hope they give him more one-liners in the films. Spider-Man's sense of humor was sorely missing in the three films. In the comics, he used his jokes to fluster his enemies.

Whoever takes over as the director has to be a big fan of Spider-Man. They'll probably insist on a three picture deal from him. The way these movies make money, they'd be crazy not to make more. Sam Raimi was not known as a great director when was selected to make the first movie, so it's not like they need some legendary director to take over. I'd like to see the next set of movies be more action-driven than story-driven really. I've had enough of the Peter-MJ-Harry storyline. It'll be nice to see a movie where the villain doesn't kidnap MJ for once.

It could go in many directions from here. I also hope that they are more action driven and have his trademark one liners as well. As good as the first three are, I did miss his witty comic book banter.
Still, in the video games of the films there is a heap of humour from Spidey.

I always thought for the fourth film they should have him fight one villain as Peter and the other as Spider-man as it happened sometimes in the books.
Peter tries to cure the Lizard with science and compassion, but has to get into the gritty fights with Carnage or Shocker (a favourite villain of mine) for instance. Perhaps a love interest that is a villain secretly?
'Maximum Carnage' is a much talked about plot and so is 'Spider-man: Mutant Menace' with the Xmen, though I think cross overs are unlikely in the films.
A lot of fans are talking 'Clone Saga' and that may be an arc for the next three films to follow as Peter is stalked by a man not unlike himself for a while (who calls himself Ben Reilly and becomes NY's second wall crawler 'Scarlet Spider') until the resolution in perhaps the third film.

Still, there are heaps of villains to choose from including:
Mysterio, Electro, Carnage, Vulture, Chameleon, Kraven, Scorpion, SheVenom, Shriek, Jackal, Shocker & Hobgoblin.

I really hate all the Venom offspring. They're just too lame. There's too many other characters with better origins to go through before coming back to Carnage.

Kraven would be an interesting one, but he'd have to be a bit different than his comic version. But a big game hunter looking for a challenging hunt could be a cool story.

Black Cat would fit the love interest / villain role. But she always seemed like a Catwoman ripoff to me.

The Lizard is the best villain left. I think the Scorpion could be cool though. If they really wanted to bring back Venom, they could have him bond with the Scorpion like in the comics.

I agree, producers should look into other villain possibilities aside from carnage. I hope and pray it'd be better than Spiderman 3. Spiderman 3 wasn't really what i had expected it to be. It seemed like they had too much storyline put into a movie that was too short to portray it.

It did seem jammed full, but I really enjoyed it anyway. It was a good send off for this initial run.
I have to agree and say that Carnage could wait a few more films, the same with Hobgoblin.
Kraven, Shocker, Lizard and Scorpion still interest me and in a way I do wish they didn't keep killing the villains off so we could have a 'Sinister Six' style attack on New York.
We all know Dylan Baker will reprise his role so he will end up as portraying Lizard, but what about ideas for casting other villains, any ideas?

F'rinstance:
I'd like to see Nestor Carbonell as Kraven.
Tobey Stephens as Mysterio would be good.
Rosamund Pike as Black Cat would be terrific.
Christian Bale as Cletus Cassidy aka Carnage.
Gotz Otto as Shocker works well.
Clive Owen as Michael Morbius.
The Rock (Dwayne Johnson) as Rhino.

Tobey is a safe pick to play Spidey, but there are better ones out there. Carnage & Lizard?! LOL! YAWN! You got to be kidding me! Have The Punisher in it! Have Green Goblin again even! What about the Sinister Six?!

In fact they should REALLY smarten up and have Spider-Man/Wolverine share a billing. THAT would be something to get excited over.

I dont known if it was cos i was in a bad mood the night i saw spiderman 3 but i agree that it had too much storyline. Its the usual mistake they make when doing sequels.

Its like they knew the script was weak so they decided to throw in an extra bad guy. I felt Venom was a strong villain and deserved to be in a spiderman movie where he was the only bad guy.

The humour was good but they did overdo it after a while and it got tedious.

I did enjoy it however. It was just weaker than the first 2 and was a bit of a money spinner.
