The Mist
I just saw it, and have to give it a B-. It woulda been A material, but the special effects were a lil lacking (Im CGI spoiled!), and that ending was exploring a whole new depth of bullshit!.
Is it just me or is Thomas Jane, and Christopher Lambert the same person?
Thomas Jane
Christopher Lambert

I agree... I like the opening, then at the middle it starts to look more interesting. However, the ending was disappointing... maybe the novel would tell the story better than the movie. Maybe it's the best of all Stephen King movies (it doesn't only show off the horrible monsters as what other directors interpret about Stephen King novels), but I don't like (as what you said) the special effect and the picture... it just looks like a low budget movie for me, definitely not a box office movie or 1st class movie.
Anyway, I don't think they are the same person. I'm very sure that they just look rather similar.

I read the story, and I dont remember it ending like that. I think *SPOILER* it ended with them driving after they saw a huge creature walk by. That was in the film.

Maybe the director just wanted to give surprise to the audiences, especially to the ones who have read the novel. You know, sometimes when you watch a movie with a predictable ending, you find it boring. But, it is obvious that the director failed to entertain the audiences with that ending.

I actually liked The Mist. It's been a while since I saw a horror movie like it. It's nice in suspense, the plot was great, and the characters were interesting with their very human qualities.
Even though I'm not a big fan of CGI, there is a limit to what I like and dislike about them and I thought the special effects in the movie were just okay, but what I thought looked the most silly were those tentacles biting chunks out of that one kid.
As for the ending, it did entertain people (most people I mention The Mist to liked it), it was a very suspenseful twist that was shocking to the audience in my opinion.

I really liked the Mist too, and I am not normally a fan of this genre of film.
I think the ending was bitter sweet... I would give it an 8/10

I think the opposite there. I thought the sfx were great except for maybe the tentacle scene near the beginning. I wish I'd have seen it in theatre as well. I never got around to it at the time though.

I believe you're right Rob. I read someone saying this on another forum. I as well thought the ending stunk.
*Ending Spoiler for The MIST*
I've said this on another forum and here as well but it was the most illogical and absurd thing that those characters would do. They not one time in the movie gave us even a hint, that they are the type to give up like that ESPECIALLY when there was no eminent danger at that time. Why not hold out in the car 'in case' help arrived.
And the thing I hate about it the most is on the DVD, there are no alternate endings cause apparently everyone agreed with it. I mean c'mon, nowadays there are always alternate endings and he could have made one or two up just for the fans. They could have stopped it short and had them drive off like in the book even though I'd have hated that as well. They could have had them fighting off more creatures, then widen the camera to show us help was soon arriving. Anything but that crappy ending.

Yeah, I'll stay in the car if I were them, but if you pay attention when you watch movies (especially the horror ones), you'll find the characters choose to be driven by their curiosity, then die or have troubles chasing them... that's a kind of horror movie industry rule, and perhaps it's made to add suspense... unfortunately, not all of them are made creatively...

An ending maybe is the most difficult part to be created by directors, because it decides people's impression of the whole story. A movie will not work out with nice opening and climax without a great and creative ending. In this case, I think the director is not creative enough to create an ending. Not every director can do it. I think M. Night Shyamalan is the best director to create great and unexpected ending.

I agree as with many films I have watched recently. The ending as good a film it was, kills alot of it for me if it's terrible similar to this film and another would be 'No Country For Old Men' however with those two, it had enough good things in it to want me to watch it over and over again. I just grit my teeth when it nears the end of the film for these hehehe.

I just saw this movie since Netflix had a really long wait. Anyway, it was pretty creepy in that you consider your corner grocery store a safe place, but it wasn't.
*Ending Spoiler for The MIST*
I liked the ending because it was different than your normal Hollywood happy endings. It was more in keeping with real life where things don't always end so sweetly. I thought it made the movie even creepier that everyone was dead in the car except for the one guy. Maybe I'm strange but I liked it.
