Hi Guys
Just been musing about the effect music has to enhance a movie. When done well it can really add to the atmosphere and in some cases when I hear a certain piece of music it automatically conjurs the movie for me.
Ones that spring to mind are;
"The Good the Bad and the Ugly" ... Clint Eastwood stars in the best IMHO of the spagette western genre ... Ennio Maricone's genius at it's best.
"Repo Man" ... great indie band soundtrack including Iggi Pop the garage master.
"The Cook, the Thief, his Wife and her Lover" ... not only a visual delight but also the scene with the boy soprano washing the dishes is beautifully moving.
"Delicatessen" ... the dual between the musical saw and the cello is loving and the fixing of the bedspring slowly involves the entire appartment block ... very comic.
"Jaws" ... it still freaks me out, especially if I am in or under the water at the time.
"Psycho" ... need I say more LOL
Any Herzog film ...he has the genius of choosing bent ethnic music to add to the bizarreness of his films.
"Kouannisquatsi" (spelling?) ... a film which bombards you with images of how man is fucking up the environment, Phillip Glass' soundtrack is hauntingly poinient and beautifull.
"28 Days Later" ... the music when the hero in a confused daze is wandering around a deserted London for the first time, I particularly liked this and had it looping around my head for many days later. Glad that it was also used in the sequel.
"2001 a Space Odyssy" ... when the apes gain wisdom and begin using tools.
"Rocky Horror Picture Show' ... still remember going to see this film dressed ... ummm ...

well I think you can imagine how one would dress for this film LOL
"This is Spinal Tap" ... very funny mockumentary which follows a fictional rock band on tour.
"Deliverence" ... dueling banjo and guitar.
Anyway I open this thread to your thoughts.
has anyone seen "Sweeny Todd" yet?
