Default Stephen King

Do you like Stephen King?

I've read maybe about 8 or 9 of his books - currently in the middle of his latest: Cell.

I've enjoyed everything I've read by him, with the exception of The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger - I just don't understand how people can enjoy this! I understand it's hard fantasy mixed with other genres, but ugh.. just really didn't enjoy it..

I have not read any Stephen King books.

I really like Michael Crichton books.

Default The Iffiness of Stephen King

I like Stephen King books for the most part, he's got some really cool ideas. If you look at how many books are under his name, it might signal something (time issue) - he doesn't fully write all of his own books, rather he has writers that use his concepts and he simply approves them. Lots of famous authors, like Dean Koontz, also use this tactic. Of course, there are books that are solely written by them, just not all.

The result of this process is usually that, because of different writers, some of his books and stories aren't as well executed as they could have been. I like a lot of his ideas, just not the execution of some of them.

I haven't read many but I can say that the ones I have were pretty good. One of my favorites would have to Dreamcatcher.

I have read every one of his books and I have all of his films that have been released on DVD. I can't find the Stand though and it's driving me nuts.
