Thumbs down Disabling Content Links?

I was just wondering if there's anyway to get rid of those rediculous content links that appear on this forum.

They've only begun to plague me in the last 2 days and I assume it had something to do with a recent Windows update I had 2 days ago.

Every page, every post every time I go anywhere on this forum those little underlined highlited adverts appear now and I really can't stand them.

I've had a similar problem with posting when I highlight things to copy or paste and sometimes wind up clicking on the little annoyances but that situation seems to happen on every board I visit not just here.

I disabled some things in my Tools>Internet Options>Security tab but while disabling 'active scripting' and 'java applets' got rid of the problem it also eliminated my smileys so I had to enable them again and the ads that pop-up while the mouse cursor touches them are extremely annoying.

Anyone know how to get rid of this garbage?

Dunno how to get rid of it, but I know this much, it's totally useless, IMO though.

It makes me want to downgrade my updates on Internet Explorer and Windows.
It's nothing but pure spam in my book and it shouldn't be allowed if you cant get rid of it.

I just griped about this in another thread. It's an advertising ploy and I believe helps to pay for certain forums and keep them upgraded or what not if you don't pay for them yourself.

JoBlows has it all over the place. If there is a way to get rid of it, damn somebody tell me cause I hate them.

You could be right there regarding Internet Explorer though Scifiguy. If anyone doesn't have the latest Explorer and are not getting these then I'd like to know.

After I post something on here, I now check it out and read it. If there is one of those links in a word I use, then I click on 'EDIT REPLY' and then simply repost it. So far it has worked and successfully nullified said spam links from my text.

I tried doing that in the beginning but I noticed it's not always the same words twice when you reload the page.

And from what I've read by people on the net complaining about it when they do finally get rid of it, a few days later it's back.

Damn cockroaches!
