Hi guys (and gals),

The blue links you see don't have anything to do with browsers or "Internet updates", but are actually a new advertising program I'm trying.

I'm sorry that you guys find it so annoying - however, I think part of that is due to their apperance (dark blue on a black backgound), and that they were appearing all over the forum.

I just finished (as of a few minutes ago) modifying the forum so that they will only appear in the actual posts now. Previously they were appearing anywhere and everywhere, such as the front page. This will not be the case anymore as they will be isolated to only the posts.

Later, I will try to modify them so that they are a bit more eye-friendly and not the dark blue which is very clashy.

So...
The links are...on purpose??

It might not be so bad if that little window didn't pop up everytime you hover the link but it also takes away from what the poster is trying to say.
When I read a post and I see that someone has a regular highlited link I know it's relevant to the point they are trying to get across but these evil little content links point out every word that means anything.
I don't need to see a list of places where to shop and save for every little thing mentioned.
Let's see...
I click the content link spam for Quicktime and get this...

Nice.
So now not only do I know where to download Quicktime but I know where to find 'naughty women' or how to get into that trusted area of 'internet dating' as well.
That's spam plain and simple.

There are pages and pages of internet users out there complaining about these things popping up everytime your cursor passes them and it's an intentional thing not an invasive attack?

Wow.

Anyone else feeling... ...by this kinda spam?

Personally I piss on Content Links...
IMO, it's annoying and takes something away from us.

I'm with ya Sci-Fi but apparently this is going on deaf ears... We had to complain about it for what? 2 weeks before the administrator even weighed in on the topic, and I basically feel like he just said "to bad if you don't like it, you can always go somewhere else!" Whatever...

You read me wrong. I never said they were here because of updates. I said I don't have them, because I don't have the updates. I still stand by that, too. Why? Because I did have the updates, at one time, including the Internet Explorer 7. I saw these same links at JoBlo's, and Cinema Blend. I went into safe-mode, before you ever got these added to your site, and I didn't see them here, like everyone else did. I have a new computer now, and not only are they still not showing up on your board, but they are no longer showing up on the other two boards, as well. I didn't add the updates back. So there you go.

So, yes, I knew you did these on purpose. Like most things in life . . .

Click to play!

*EDITED OUT!!!*

In the end, I'm not complaining about them, because I don't see them, but I have had to deal with them in the past, and I get why the pop-up boxes bug everyone.

LOL @ Wayne & Garth.
Their point is so sad but true with most things in this world today too.

I sure am glad I did those updates! My links are bright yellow, though.

Yeah, I finally had no choice, but to get that Service Pack 2, for something I had. It made it run a lot better. Damn blasted!
