I've read on the net that it is possible but only if the admin disables it with a coded formula based on the board in question.
The formula I saw would probably not work here but somewhere out there, one would.

The spammed hi-lites are seriously getting rediculous. I can't even tell anymore what a poster is linking to what the spam is linking until I hover it with my mouse's cursor.

Whoever thought this one up gets props for making people want to leave the infected boards though. I wonder if that was the plan all along? They couldn't have thought this was a good thing right?

Just so you know, I am running normally, all brand new, and I still don't have any links. I didn't do any updates. I don't do those. Maybe that's what it is.

Then again, maybe I infected all of your computers.

No doubt...
I can't even tell anymore what's a real poster's link and what's a spam-linked advert.

It's really messing with the atmosphere on this board.

It's the internet updates. It has to be. I was at my sister's today, and she has all kinds of protection, blockers, etc . . . but she also has all the updates installed. There were blue links everywhere.
I'm home. No links!

Yeah but unfortunately everyone has to have those so maybe whoever's doing the spyware knows the right updates to activate it? I dunno. Just a thought but I soooooo envy you and want my board as purified for me as it is to you.

As far as I know, updates are optional. I don't need them. I'm running great, now.

What kind of updates are you referring to? I was meaning crucial windows updates that deal with patches and viruses and such. The other stuff I could care less about as well unless it's quicktime or IM or something like that.

Either way though this is a little stupid. I wonder if at some point our Imperious leader is going to make an appearance and weigh in on the subject? Tyler says he has very strict policies regarding the appointment of moderators but if he's never here I really think he should at least appoint one.

I'm referring to the Window's updates. McAfee and Webroot, are all I need. Yet Windows makes sure that you "have to" have them, for certain things to work. Service Pack 2 is the one that is needed, for certain things to work. The newer version of Quick-time is one of them. Yeah, I can live without it. I was suppose to have the Service Pack 2, for my Plextor to work, but I worked my way around that. I've always hated those Service Packs. They make you do roughly 18-20 something updates, 'before' Service Pack 2 will load. You load them, they are in your add/remove programs, then you load Service Pack 2, and the 18-20 something other updates disappear. You can't delete them anymore. You have no choice, but to load all these pointless updates, just to get the one. Then poof, gone. It's all a part of the conspiracy!
