Most convincing in a role? Not an easy task.
From what I've watched in the last few days:

Arnold as the Terminator in 'The Terminator' - True cold-machine/cyborg performance right down to the eye movements and walk, something Kristana Loken emulated very well in T3.

Jack Nicholson can sell almost anything in a role, but 'About Schmidt' was so sincere and real that you forgot you were watching a well known actor and not a real person.

Rutger Hauer as the emotionally inexperienced and creepy Roy Batty in 'Blade Runner'. His nuances in the character bring out much more than any scripted line could - he also added the phenominal lines about 'tears in rain' himself.

I agree. Russell Crowe played his role very well in Beautiful Mind. I've never watched The Accused before, but I like Jodie Foster in Anna and The King.

Yeah, it's a surprise when you watch him as a real comedian Punk'd in MTV, then you watch him in Butterfly Effect (a very serious and dark movie) play as a desperate man... This is a complete change. For me that proves his great ability in acting.
