Thumbs up The Oscars are over and the results is ...

The Oscars are over and the results, are pretty much what everyone thought they would be. The same could be said of the evening’s host, Ellen Degeneres.
She turned the ceremony into a bland installment of her daily, soccer mom loved talk show. Was she funny? Rarely. Did she offend anyone?
No. Will she be back next year? Let’s hope not. In awards, Scorsese finally won Best Director. Maybe United 93’s Paul Greengrass deserved it more, but Marty’s been overlooked so many times, he deserves one. His film The Departed also took home three other awards including Best Picture, Adapted Screenplay, and Film Editing.

As predicted, Helen Mirren took Best Actress and Forest Whittaker walked away with Best Actor. Whittaker, having learned from his stumbling acceptance speech at the Golden Globes, turned in the most eloquent, heartfelt thank you of the event.

ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE Forest Whitaker - The Last King of Scotland ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE Alan Arkin - Little Miss Sunshine
